Chairman of the United Nations Working Group on Human Rights, Transnational Corporations and other Business Enterprises, Pavel Sulyandziga, and Grand Chief Wilton Littlechild, member of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, were at Standing Rock today. Together with representatives of the International Indian Treaty Council (IITC) and the ACLU Human Rights Program they conducted a hearing and took testimonies on human rights violations resulting from construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. WPLC staff attorneys Angela Bibens and Holly Bird and Board member Jeff Haas presented an update on the criminal cases and the civil cases.
